The Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt Hon. Peter Odey, received in audience Ms. Offiong Edem, Founder and CEO of the Offiong Edem Foundation, at the Government House in Calabar on Thursday.
During the visit, Edem, a five-time Olympic medalist, six-time African Table Tennis Champion, and the reigning European Female Table Tennis Champion, formally informed the deputy governor about the upcoming 4th edition of her foundation’s mini tournament, scheduled to take place on Friday, July 5th, and Saturday, July 6th, 2024, at the Canaan Table Tennis Hall, for children aged 7-17.
Rt Hon. Odey assured her of the government’s continued support for her foundation’s activities, hailed Offiong’s heroic and legendary achievements in table tennis, and contributions to sports development in the state and Nigeria as a whole.
