Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency in collaboration with Cross River State Ministry of Health, Humanity Without Borders, UNICEF, and other partners is proud to announce the 2024 World Breastfeeding Week Flag-off and World Breastfeeding Record Attempt.
Under the theme “Closing the Gap: Break the Record, Break Barriers: Support Exclusive Breastfeeding”, we aim to revolutionize breastfeeding practices in Cross River State. With the unwavering support of our Nutrition and Breastfeeding Champion, Her Excellency, Rev. (Mrs.) Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, Wife of the Governor, we are committed to creating a healthier future for our children.
Join us on Monday, 5th August, 2024, at 12 Noon at the Dannic Hotel Hall, Calabar for a historic event. A gathering of 500 breastfeeding mothers will come together in a powerful display of unity and commitment to exclusive breastfeeding. This extraordinary feat will not only break the Nigerian breastfeeding record but will also ignite a movement for improved breastfeeding rates across the state.
Beyond the record-breaking attempt, we will undertake comprehensive initiatives to promote exclusive breastfeeding:
• Flag-off and Sensitization of Caregivers: Empowering caregivers with essential knowledge and support.
• Awareness and Sensitization of the Populace: Reaching out to the community through radio campaigns and educational programs.
• Orientation of Frontline Healthcare Workers on Zero Water Promotion: Strengthening the healthcare system to champion exclusive breastfeeding.
We are privileged to partner with UNICEF, the World Health Organization, NUTRITION INTERNATIONAL, Cross River State Government, Zipline, STRONG INTERNATIONAL, and other esteemed organizations in this endeavor.
Together, we can create a lasting impact on the health and well-being of our children.
Let us unite in celebrating the beauty and importance of breastfeeding. By supporting exclusive breastfeeding, we are investing in a healthier, brighter future for generations to come.
