The annual New Yam Festival, a cherished event that brings together the sons and daughters of Obudu to celebrate a bountiful harvest, served as the perfect occasion for Mr. Undiandeye Peter Akonfe’s visit. In his hometown of Bedia, Obudu LGA, he was warmly welcomed by friends, family, and supporters.
He expressed his gratitude for their unwavering support and encouraged them to share the message of his ambition, saying, “Together, we will make a better Obudu.”
During the festival, Mr. Akonfe engaged with various groups and individuals, offering gifts and cash while seeking advice and guidance for his chairmanship bid.
He visited key stakeholders, including the APC Chapter Excos of Obudu, the National Youth Council of Nigeria Obudu, the Traditional Rulers Council Obudu, APC ward working committees, the three wards of Utugwang, and Tiger FC, presenting his vision for Obudu’s future. His development plans focus on proper representation, agricultural support, sports development, health facilities improvement, security, education, skills acquisition and infrastructure improvement.
During the consultation and celebration tour, several key stakeholders spoke on behalf of their respective groups and pledged their support for Mr. Akonfe. These individuals include: Mr. Henry Ublibli, APC Chapter Chairman Obudu. Mr. Peter Obogor, Urban Ward 1 APC Chairman Obudu. Mr. Sunday, Angiaba/Begiaka Ward APC Chairman Obudu (Chairman of all APC Ward Chairmen). Ukandi PJ Ekunke, APC Elder Statesman. Sir. Linus Abuokwen, NYCN Coordinator Obudu. HRM. “Utsu” Felix Ukudare, Paramount Ruler Obudu. HRH. “Utsu” Ayang Undebe, Clan Head of Bebuabong. Mr. Kingsley Nchor, former aide to the immediate past Federal House of Representatives member representing Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku Federal Constituency.
While acknowledging Mr. Undiandeye’s commitment and seriousness in serving the people, praised his intelligence, strategic approach, and deep understanding of local government affairs, they assured him of their backing, and also encouraged him to stay focused on his goals.
Similarly, in recognition of his humanitarian disposition and unwavering commitment to community development, a sociocultural group known as ‘Computer Age Grade’ in Ohong, Obudu Local Local Government Area, graciously honoured him with an award of community development.
