The opening ceremony of Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development ( SAED ) Programme took place at the NYSC permanent Orientation camp Obubra Local Government Area, Cross River state.
In his welcome address to the 2024 Batch C stream11 Corps members deployed to the State, the Director Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development ( SAED) Programme, Mr Aremu Kehinde congratulated the Corps members on their successful completion of their various academic programmes in higher institutions. He used the medium to beckoned on the Corps members to leverage on skills made available in camp by NYSC management for their future endeavours.
The Director who was represented at the ceremony by the state Coordinator of NYSC Cross River state, Mrs Oyenuga Joke, appealed to the youths to look away from the white collar job syndrome, but rather, they should leverage on skills in camp to become job creators instead of job seekers. He noted that the Objectives of the SAED Programme is to inculcate in Corps members the spirit of self reliance and Entrepreneurship.
The director highlighted that the skills made available to the Corps members include: Agro – allied, ICT, creative industry, construction, Education and Green energy etc.
He assured Corps members of the NYSC funding options made available for those with good business ideas to access grants for their small scale businesses.
Earlier in his remarks, the Assistant director SAED, Mr Onochie Christopher, encouraged Corps members to see SAED as a golden opportunity to become job creators.
The high point of the event was a symbolic playlet presentation by corps members in SAED committee to further encouraged corps members to embrace a skill in camp.
