The people of Akamkpa and Biase Local Government Areas have unanimously reaffirmed their unwavering support for Governor Bassey Otu and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, endorsing them for a second term in office.
The resounding declaration was made at a solidarity and endorsement rally held on Thursday at the Akamkpa Local Government Council Secretariat, which drew stakeholders, party leaders, traditional and religious leaders, youth and women groups, and grassroots supporters from across the federal constituency.

Stakeholders credited Governor Otu’s impressive and impactful achievements within two years in office as the basis for their support. They described his performance as a solid foundation for the continued progress of the state.
The motion for the vote of confidence and endorsement was moved by Barr. Uno Ogban and seconded by Hon. Angelica Bassey, followed by Hon. Matthew Olory and Hon. Susan Ukpai. The motion received overwhelming approval through a thunderous voice vote.

Addressing the crowd, Rt. Hon. George O’ben-Etchi, Chairman/CEO of the Cross River State Forestry Commission, hailed Governor Otu as “a symbol of stability and progress,” noting that his leadership has brought visible transformation to both LGAs and the entire state. He emphasized that the endorsement was a clear signal that the people desire continuity in leadership and governance for sustained development.

Earlier, in his opening remarks, Hon. Ijom-Odum Ukam, Commissioner for Youth Development and Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, praised the administration’s inclusive approach, particularly its youth-friendly policies and empowerment initiatives. “This is the first time in years that we feel heard and represented,” he stated.

Several prominent stakeholders also took turns to speak at the event. These included the Chairmen of Akamkpa and Biase LGAs, House of Assembly members representing Biase and Akamkpa I & II, commissioners, the APC State Vice Chairman (South), Hon. (Mrs) Tity Ndifon, Paramount Rulers, representatives of the State Youth Council, and students. They commended the governor for his strides in infrastructure, agriculture, education, health, and youth development, stating that his administration’s impact has extended beyond state borders.
Responding on behalf of the governor, Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Peter Odey expressed heartfelt appreciation for the endorsement. “I am deeply moved by this show of support. Your trust means everything to us. Governor Otu and I remain committed to the growth and development of every part of our state,” he said.

Also preent at the rally were Hon. Pius Ankpo, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure (representing the Deputy Governor), royal fathers, women leaders, party executives at all levels, youth groups, students, and numerous party faithful.
