Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Mr Darlington Bassey Eyo, has disclosed that the deliberate policies of the current administration under Prince Bassey Edet Otu, have injected new lease of life and greatly enhanced productivity in the local government service. These include among other things improved condition of service, conducive working environment, payment of gratuities, creation of new departments, elevation of the office of HOLGA to an equal status with Permanent Secretary and recently, recruitment into the local government service.

Addressing members of the Support Group Inter-Party Forum (a socio political support group with membership across party lines), Mr Eyo further enunciate the numerous achievements of the Governor Otu’s administration in two years.
“I want to use this opportunity to thank His Excellency, the governor Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu for being a very committed, a very dedicated governor. Without him, we couldn’t have been here.
“When he came in, one of the pilot projects he committed himself to do is this Local government service commission building. This place had been here for over fifteen to twenty years. We wrote to him about the payment of rent which was almost becoming an embarrassment. So, he decided to swing into action and within one year, this project was completed”, he stated.
According to Mr Eyo, for several years government spent heavily on payment of rent and sometimes staff run into the risk of eviction due to non payments, but thescenario changed in the current administration, where the governor not only built an edifice but a one-stop office.
Presenting the group’s aims and objectives, State Chairmam of the forum Cmr. Ani Akak, disclosed that they decided to come together irrespective of political leaning, to support the governor.
