Dr. Godwin Adaje Agbor is a distinguished medical practitioner whose life reflects resilience, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to humanity. Born on October 20, 1976, in Akparabong, Ikom, Cross River State, he hails from Ukpada village in Utugwang South Ward of Obudu Local Government Area. He is the son of the late Mr. Francis Agbor Ogar and Mrs. Grace Agbor Ogar, whose values of integrity, hard work, and service profoundly shaped his upbringing. From an early age, Dr. Agbor demonstrated a strong sense of purpose and a deep connection to his community—traits that have guided his personal and professional journey.
Dr. Agbor’s educational journey began at St. Paul’s Primary School, Ukpada, where he received his foundational education between 1984 and 1989. He proceeded to Community Secondary School, Utugwang, for his junior secondary education from 1990 to 1992, and later attended the Federal Science College, Ogoja, where he completed his secondary education in 1995. Driven by a passion for medicine and service, he gained admission into the University of Calabar in 2001 to study Medicine and Surgery. After years of rigorous academic training marked by perseverance and excellence, he graduated in 2010 with an MBBCh degree.
Following his graduation, Dr. Agbor commenced his medical career with a housemanship at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital from 2011 to 2012. This period provided him with invaluable hands-on experience across various medical disciplines. He further expanded his clinical expertise through professional engagements at Catholic Monaya Hospital in Ogoja and Abuja Unity Hospital in Lugbe, Federal Capital Territory. In 2013, motivated by a desire to bring quality healthcare closer to the people, he established Omega Agbor Clinic and Maternity Ltd. Located in Okundi, Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State, the clinic has grown into a reputable healthcare institution offering essential medical and maternity services while maintaining high standards of care.

Currently, Dr. Godwin Agbor serves as the Medical Director and Proprietor of Omega Agbor Clinic and Maternity Ltd. In this role, he not only oversees clinical and administrative operations but also ensures that patients receive compassionate, ethical, and professional medical care. His leadership style emphasizes excellence, accountability, and service to the underserved.
Dr. Agbor’s leadership journey dates back to his formative years, when he served as Head Boy during his primary school days. At the University of Calabar, he was elected Class Representative of the 2001 medical students’ cohort, where he played a key role in student representation and coordination of union activities. In 2006, he served as Secretary of the Electoral Committee of the Christian Medical Students Association, further sharpening his organizational and leadership skills. Beyond the university, he actively participated in student and community organizations such as the Obudu Students Worldwide Association, the National Association of Cross River State Students, and the National Association of Utugwang Students, advocating for youth development and collective progress.
In professional service, Dr. Agbor distinguished himself as the immediate past Secretary General of the Association of Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria, Cross River State chapter. During his tenure, he facilitated numerous medical outreach programs that brought essential healthcare services to rural communities and the less privileged. He currently serves as Chairman of the Obudu Health Anti-Quackery Committee, where he works with fellow health professionals to combat quackery and ensure that healthcare services within the local government are provided strictly by qualified personnel.
Beyond medicine, Dr. Agbor has been actively involved in politics, contributing significantly to grassroots mobilization and party development. He began his political journey in 1998 as the pioneer Ward Secretary of the All People’s Party in Utugwang South, donating a building that served as the party’s ward secretariat. He later emerged as the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Obudu State Constituency during the Cross North 2020 bye-election and contested again in the 2023 general elections. In addition to contesting elections, he has played strategic roles within the APC, including harmonizing party factions in Cross River State in 2019 and supervising the Obudu APC membership registration and revalidation exercise in 2021. His efforts culminated in a historic mega rally that witnessed the defection of a former governor from the PDP to the APC.
Dr. Agbor is equally renowned for his philanthropic endeavors, particularly in education and faith-based support. He has awarded bursaries to over seventy-five students from Bekwarra, Obudu, and Obanliku Federal Constituency, easing the financial burden of tertiary education and inspiring hope among young people. A devout Christian and a Knight of St. Mulumba, he is deeply committed to the Catholic Church, supporting evangelism, church development, and community-based religious initiatives.
Under his leadership, Omega Agbor Clinic and Maternity Ltd has entered into strategic partnerships with reputable local and international organizations, including USAID, Pathfinder International, PSI, Society for Family Health, the Cross River State Ministry of Health, and the World Health Organization. These collaborations have strengthened healthcare delivery in areas such as malaria control, HIV and AIDS response, family planning, maternal and child health, nutrition, and immunization safety.
Dr. Godwin Agbor’s outstanding service has earned him several prestigious awards. In 2021, he received the Award of Excellence from the National Association of Obudu Students Worldwide. In 2018, he was honored for humanitarian service by the Catholic Provincial Men Organizations South-South, and in 2015, he was conferred with the title of Epitome of Integrity and Kindness by the Catholic Women Organizations of Nigeria, Boki Chapter.
