The Honourable Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission (NPC), Rt. Hon. Barr. Alex Ukam, has dismissed allegations by Mrs. Benita Usang and her associates over the nomination of Hon. Rose Ometu and Mrs. Florence Eko as Women Leaders for the Southern Senatorial District of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State.
In a statement issued by his media team, Ukam described the claims as baseless and a deliberate attempt to create division within the Biase chapter of the APC.

He said the allegations suggesting that the appointments of Ometu and Eko were imposed lacked any factual basis and were designed to undermine the unity of party members in the area.
Ukam condemned what he described as a growing trend of desperation and a “pull-him-down” mentality among certain individuals, noting that some of those raising the allegations had themselves benefited from the party’s support in the past.
According to him, it was unfair for such individuals to act as though others should not occupy key party positions without their approval, despite the collective contributions many members have made to the growth and success of the APC in Cross River State.
The Biase APC leader therefore called on the leadership of the party in the state to thoroughly investigate the claims and establish the facts in order to maintain discipline and transparency within the party.
He also urged party members to avoid actions capable of undermining the unity, peace, and stability of the APC, especially as preparations gradually begin ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ukam reaffirmed his commitment to the progress of the party and called on stakeholders to focus on strengthening the APC for future political success.
