Engr. Dr. George Ndifon Abang Becomes Pioneer Chairman of NSE Ikom BranchThe Ikom Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has elected Engr. Dr. George Ndifon Abang, PhD, as its Pioneer Chairman, marking a historic milestone in the advancement of engineering professionalism and institutional presence in Ikom and surrounding communities.

The election, conducted in strict compliance with the constitutional provisions and guidelines of the Society, produced a team of seasoned and distinguished engineers who will serve as the pioneer executive committee of the newly established branch. The process was widely commended for its transparency, credibility, and adherence to professional standards.
The officers elected to steer the affairs of the branch are Engr. Dr. George N. Abang as Chairman; Engr. Stanley N. Atep as Vice Chairman; Engr. Joseph U. Liwhuliwhe as General Secretary; Engr. Promise Odey as Technical Secretary; Engr. David Obun as Financial Secretary; Engr. Joshua Obaji as Publicity Secretary; Engr. Ojua Ann as Treasurer; and Elder Engr. Obongha Agbiji as Ex-Officio I.
Supervising the electoral process, Engr. Dr. Agbiji Ndifon, who represented the National Executive Council, ensured that the exercise met the Society’s standards of fairness and accountability. He described the process as free, fair and credible, noting that with its pioneer executive committee now in place, expectations are high that the NSE Ikom Branch will set a strong foundation for professional integrity, excellence, and impactful service to society.
In his acceptance remarks, Engr. Dr. Abang expressed profound gratitude to members of the branch for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to provide visionary, inclusive, and transformational leadership anchored on professionalism, ethical standards, innovation, and continuous capacity building.
He emphasized that the new leadership would prioritize mentoring young engineers, fostering collaboration among practitioners, and strengthening partnerships with government institutions and private sector stakeholders to drive infrastructural development.
Other stakeholders who witnessed the exercise have described the inauguration of the branch as a timely development that will not only strengthen engineering practice in Ikom and its environs but also create a structured platform for advocacy, innovation, and community-driven solutions.
