The former Director-General of the Cross River State Environmental Protection Agency, Engr. George Ndifon Abang, PhD, has congratulated Cross River State Governor, Bassey Edet Otu, on his emergence as Silverbird Man of the Year 2026, describing the honour as a testament to purposeful and steady leadership.

In a congratulatory message he personally shared on his Facebook handle and made available to the press, Engr. Abang stated that the award reflects the deliberate and focused governance the governor has brought to Cross River State, noting that it represents a renewed sense of direction in the state’s public affairs.

According to the CEO of the Abon Abang Foundation Initiative, the recognition goes beyond personal acclaim and underscores the growing confidence in the administration’s resolve to restore economic vibrancy, strengthen unity across communities, and lay solid foundations for inclusive and sustainable development.
He commended Governor Otu’s reform-driven and people-oriented initiatives, stating that they are steadily reshaping the narrative of governance in the state. He added that the award affirms that dedicated and visionary leadership does not go unnoticed.

Engr. Abang assured the governor of his continued support and prayed for enduring wisdom, strength, and clarity of vision as he works to consolidate on the gains already recorded and achieve greater milestones for the benefit of Cross Riverians.
