As part of his administration’s commitment to achieving its goals and in line with the ‘People First’ mantra of Governor Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, the Executive Chairman of Obudu Local Government Area, Hon. Peter Undiandeye, on Monday, swore in newly appointed supervisors. He charged them to hit the ground running, add value, and perform optimally for the growth and development of the local government and the state at large.
The swearing-in ceremony, held at the council headquarters in Obudu, was attended by the Vice Chairman of the council, Hon. Rhoda Ashong, Leader of the Obudu Legislative Assembly, Paramount Ruler of the Obudu Traditional Rulers Council, HRM Utsu Ukwudari, APC stakeholders, and well-wishers from various wards.
Hon. Undiandeye congratulated the appointees on their successful screening and confirmation by the legislative arm, emphasizing that they were carefully selected from among many qualified individuals across their wards.
He stressed that it would no longer be business as usual, urging the new appointees to bring their wealth of experience to bear, justify the trust placed in them, and take their responsibilities seriously. He highlighted the administration’s commitment to changing the narrative, improving lives, and contributing to the socioeconomic advancement of the local government and make it the pride of all in the state and country.
“We must strive to make Obudu Local Government a model of excellence, growth, and development in an atmosphere of peace. I urge you to work diligently, uphold the trust placed in you by the people, and embrace the principle of inclusivity,” he stated.
In their goodwill messages, the Paramount Ruler of Obudu Local Government Area, HRM Utsu Ukwudari, and Chief Tony Undiandeye commended the council chairman, Hon. Peter Undiandeye, for promptly constituting and inaugurating his team and congratulated the new appointees on their successful swearing-in and urged them to rally support around the administration to ensure the realization of its set goals.
Speaking earlier on behalf of his colleagues, the Legal Adviser, Barr. Kingsley Odey expressed gratitude to the council chairman for deeming them worthy of appointment and assured him of their full cooperation and commitment to supporting the administration in achieving its goals for the benefit of the people of Obudu.
Highpoint of the well-attended event was the administration of the relevant oaths and announcement of portfolios for the newly appointed supervisors, which includes Mr. Paul Akoli as Supervisor for Works, Mr. Ochui Ernest as Supervisor for Finance, Mrs. Becky Itakwu as Supervisor for Education, Mr. Austin Abua as Supervisor for Agriculture.
Others were Mr. Celsius Utsu as Supervisor for Environment, Mr. Emmanuel Agim as Supervisor for Health, Mrs. Lucy Agakwu as Supervisor for Social Welfare
In addition, earlier appointees were formally inaugurated, and these include Mr. Emmanuel Ikem as Special Adviser on Peace and Security, Mr. Kingsley Odey, Esq. as Legal Adviser, and Mr. Francis Ugbe as Special Assistant on Due Process and Price Intelligence.
