The Executive Chairman of Obudu Local Government Area, Hon. Peter Akonfe Undiandeye, has approved the appointment of key committees to support his administration’s commitment to effective governance and service delivery.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ikwen Atuaka, the Chairman announced the establishment of three committees: the Local Government Traffic Regulatory and Enforcement Committee, the Hilltop Football Management Committee, and the Asset Recovery Committee. Each committee has been tasked with specific responsibilities aimed at improving various aspects of governance within the local government.
Linus Abuokwen has been appointed as the Chairman of the 13-member Traffic Regulatory and Enforcement Committee. This committee will be responsible for managing traffic, enforcing road safety regulations, and ensuring smooth vehicular movement across Obudu. Additionally, they will engage in public awareness campaigns on traffic laws and collaborate with security agencies to mitigate road congestion and accidents.
To enhance sports development at the grassroots level, a 9-member Hilltop Football Management Committee has been constituted under the leadership of Hon. SPK Ogar. Their primary responsibility will be overseeing the management of the Hilltop Football Team and promoting local football initiatives within Obudu.
Furthermore, the Asset Recovery Committee, chaired by Thomas Adie and comprising 11 other members, has been established to identify, recover, and safeguard government assets that have been mismanaged, misplaced, or unlawfully acquired.
The appointed committee members are expected to assume their responsibilities immediately, pending their formal inauguration by the Executive Chairman at a later date.
