The Chairman of Biase Local Government Area, Hon. Edodi Edodi Eyong has reaffirmed his commitment to resolving the lingering boundary disputes between Biase and her neighbours, while pledging support for the forthcoming Ethnographic Survey of Cross River / Ebonyi Interstate Boundary.

Speaking at the Cross River State Stakeholders Meeting on the Sensitisation of Border Communities on the Ethnographic Survey of Cross River/Ebonyi Interstate Boundary, the Vice Chairman of Biase LGA, Hon. Ekuma Ngwu, JP, who represented the Executive Chairman of Biase commended the organizers of the programme for bringing stakeholders together to deliberate on the critical issue of boundary demarcation. He emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence between the two sister states, highlighting the shared histories, cultures, and aspirations of Cross River and Ebonyi States.

The Chairman stressed that unresolved boundary issues have resulted in increased tensions and bloodshed, threatening the peaceful coexistence of the people. He advocated for effective and amicable boundary demarcation, ensuring that justice, equity, and mutual respect guide the process.

He praised the ethnographic survey as an essential step in resolving boundary disputes, promoting fairness and lasting solutions. He further pledged Biase LGA’s full support for the initiative, assuring the readiness of the local government to mobilize its people for active participation.

The meeting was attended by dignitaries, including the representatives of the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Commissioner for land, Surveyor General of Cross River State, some LG Chairmen and representatives from traditional rulers, community leaders, and esteemed guests.
