The Executive Chairman of Obudu Local Government Council, Hon. (Amb.) Peter Akonfe Undiandeye, (KSM), has been applauded for his unwavering commitment to inclusivity and his recognition of the potential and capabilities of persons with disabilities.

This commendation was made by a delegation from the St. Joseph Centre for the Visually Handicapped, Obudu, during a courtesy visit to the Council Chairman on Monday at the Obudu Local Government Secretariat.

The delegation, led by the headmistress of the Centre, Rev. Sis. Dorathy Atsu, praised Hon. Undiandeye for his historic and transformative decision to appoint Mr. Joachim Ugbong, as Special Assistant on Persons With Disablilities, describing it as a significant step toward promoting equal opportunities and representation for all members of the society.

In his response, Amb. Undiandeye expressed his gratitude to the management of the St. Joseph Centre for the Visually Handicapped, Obudu for the visit. He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to fostering an inclusive society where every individual, regardless of physical ability, can contribute meaningfully to the development of the Local Government Area.

The Chairman emphasized that his administration would continue to prioritize policies and programs aimed at empowering marginalized groups, ensuring that no one is left behind.

He also pledged to collaborate closely with the Centre, as well as other government and non-governmental agencies, to address the challenges faced by persons with disabilities in the area.

The highpoint of the visit was the presentation of a portrait to the Council Chairman as a token of appreciation, followed by a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
