Cross Riverians for Bassey Otu (CRBO), a pro-Governor Otu group, has officially installed Chief Peter Higgins as its Grand Patron.
The investiture ceremony took place on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to Chief Higgins at his Abuja office. The delegation, led by the group’s National Coordinator, Obonganwan Gnarly Eyo, included other executive members and key stakeholders.
During the visit, Obonganwan Eyo praised Chief Higgins for his unwavering dedication, support, and commitment to the success of Governor Bassey Otu’s administration. She described him as a visionary leader and a strong pillar of support for the state, highlighting his crucial role in mobilizing grassroots support and fostering unity among Cross Riverians.
Outlining the group’s mission, Eyo emphasized that CRBO is committed to showcasing and celebrating the remarkable achievements of Governor Otu. She noted that the group comprises members from across Nigeria and beyond, striving to bridge the gap between the elite and the underprivileged while promoting inclusive governance. Their goal, she stated, is to foster unity and collaboration to elevate the state to greater heights.
She further informed the Grand Patron about the group’s upcoming official launch, which will feature a solidarity rally aimed at creating awareness of the administration’s people-centered policies and achievements.
Commending Chief Higgins for his unwavering support of Governor Otu’s “People First” administration, she urged Cross Riverians to continue backing the governor to ensure the successful implementation of his development agenda.
In response, Chief Peter Higgins, a businessman and politician, expressed deep appreciation for the recognition and honor bestowed upon him. He reaffirmed his commitment to Governor Otu’s vision and policies, pledging to work closely with CRBO to advance the state’s interests and promote sustainable development.
He reiterated his support for Governor Otu’s leadership, emphasizing that he would stand by him throughout his two-term tenure. Chief Higgins also stressed the importance of power rotation in the state, noting that it is the South’s turn to govern following the completion of two-term tenures by the Central and Northern Senatorial District. He called on all well-meaning Cross Riverians to continue supporting the governor in his mission to transform the state.
