The Chairman of Obudu Local Government Council, Hon. (Amb.) Peter Akonfe Undiandeye, KSM, has been nominated for the highly esteemed Nigerian Local Government Chairmen Merit Award (LOGMA), joining nine other outstanding council chairmen from Cross River State in this national honour.

Nominated alongside the Obudu Chairman were Prince Effiom Bassey Effiom of Akpabuyo, Apostle (Rt. Hon.) James Anam of Calabar Municipal, Hon. (Pastor) Mrs. Mercy Nsor of Ikom, and Hon. (Mrs.) Beatrice Nyiam Eti-Eka of Boki. Others include Hon. Christopher Agbeh of Ogoja, Hon. Kingsley Arikpo of Obubra, Hon. Egbala Bassey of Abi, Hon. Edodi Eyong Edodi of Biase, and Acting Chairman of Bekwarra, Hon. Egbung Odama Egbung.

The award, a flagship recognition of excellence in grassroots governance, celebrates exceptional leadership, innovation, and commitment to community development across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas.

Hon. Undiandeye’s nomination is widely acclaimed as a recognition of his visionary leadership, people-centered policies, and unwavering commitment to delivering tangible development in Obudu Local Government Area. His administration has been particularly applauded for remarkable strides in road and rural integration, agricultural support, as well as the consistent promotion of peace, harmony, and unity among his people.

In expressing his gratitude, Hon. Undiandeye dedicated the nomination to the good people of Obudu, whose trust and support have inspired his administration’s achievements. He further pledged to redouble his efforts in advancing the People First Agenda of Governor Bassey Edet Otu’s administration, ensuring that Obudu remains a model of progressive local governance.

The Nigerian Local Government Chairmen Merit Award ceremony, which draws together distinguished personalities across all facet of life from across the federation, will hold later this year in Abuja, where deserving chairmen will be formally decorated for their service to the nation at the grassroots.
