The Founder of the Abon Abang Foundation and Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers (NISafetyE), Cross River State Chapter, Engr. Dr. George Ndifon Abang, FNICE, FCAI, FNISAFETYE, MNSE, MNIGE, has commended the Wife of the Governor of Cross River State, Bishop Dr. (Mrs.) Eyoanwan Otu, for the successful organization of a free medical outreach designed to improve the health and overall well-being of citizens across the state.

In a statement issued in Calabar on Saturday and made available to the press, Engr. Dr. Abang described the outreach as a timely and compassionate intervention that has significantly impacted vulnerable and underserved populations who often face challenges in accessing quality healthcare services. He noted that the programme provided a wide range of medical services, easing the burden of healthcare costs on many families and offering renewed hope to beneficiaries.

According to him, the initiative reflects Her Excellency’s strong and unwavering commitment to promoting accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare, particularly at the grassroots level. He emphasized that such people-oriented programmes complement government policies aimed at strengthening the state’s healthcare system and improving public health outcomes, in line with the People First mantra of her husband, the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu.
Engr. Dr. Abang further observed that beyond the immediate medical benefits, the outreach has contributed to increased health awareness and the early detection of ailments among residents, which he said is critical to reducing preventable illnesses and mortality rates.
He lauded Her Excellency for her consistent dedication to humanitarian causes and community development through her various pet projects, particularly Humanity Without Borders, a programme that has touched the lives of many less-privileged individuals. He described her as a strong advocate for the welfare of women, children, and other vulnerable groups in the state.

The safety engineering expert also prayed for God’s guidance, strength, and wisdom for the Wife of the Governor as she continues to champion initiatives that positively impact lives and foster inclusive development across Cross River State.
Engr. Dr. Abang concluded by reaffirming his highest esteem for Bishop Otu and called on well-meaning individuals, corporate organizations, and stakeholders to support similar health and social intervention programmes that prioritize the dignity, health, and prosperity of the people.
