The Executive Chairman of Obudu Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. (Amb.) Peter Akonfe Undiandeye, KSM, has formally signed the 2026 Appropriation By-Law into law, marking a major milestone in the council’s commitment to effective governance, fiscal discipline, and sustainable development.

Speaking shortly after signing the by-law at the Council Chairman’s Office, Obudu Local Government Secretariat, on Wednesday, Hon. Undiandeye commended members of the Legislative Assembly for their diligence, cooperation, and sense of responsibility throughout the budgetary process. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the prudent and effective implementation of the 2026 budget in line with the council’s developmental priorities and the overall welfare of the people.

According to the Chairman, the newly signed Appropriation By-Law will serve as a strategic framework for the execution of programmes and projects aimed at strengthening infrastructure, enhancing security, and improving service delivery across the local government in the new fiscal year, in line with the administration’s commitment to driving socio-economic growth and development.

Speaking further, he reiterated his resolve to fully align with the People First mantra of Governor Bassey Otu, which seeks to promote grassroots development and improve the overall welfare of citizens across Cross River State, including Obudu Local Government Area.

Among those present at the ceremony were the Leader of the 7th Legislative Assembly, Hon. Eneji Sam; the Clerk of the House, Dr. Agabi Ferdinand; and other Honourable Councillors.

Also in attendance were the Vice Chairman of Council, Hon. Rhoda Ashong; the Secretary of Council, Mr. Aben Emmanuel; and the Special Adviser on Peace and Security, Mr. Emmanuel Ikem, among others.

Recall that the council’s helmsman had recently presented a budget proposal of N13.78 billion before the Obudu Legislative Assembly, which was thoroughly scrutinized and subsequently passed by the House.
