The Chairman of Obudu Local Government Council, Hon. Dr. Peter Akonfe Undiandeye, KSM, has felicitated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State, and Nigerians across the country on the occasion of Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
In a goodwill message made available to the press on Wednesday, the Chairman described the anniversary as an opportunity to celebrate Nigeria’s journey as a sovereign nation, reflect on its progress, and renew the collective commitment to peace, unity, and national development.
Dr. Undiandeye commended President Tinubu for his leadership and commitment to national development, while also acknowledging Governor Otu’s efforts towards improving infrastructure, strengthening grassroots development, and enhancing the welfare of Cross Riverians under the People First administration.
He described Obudu as a resilient, industrious, and hospitable community, noting that its strength lies in its unity, rich cultural heritage, and collective commitment to sustainable development.

The Chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to governance anchored on integrity, accountability, and purpose, with a focus on expanding vital infrastructure, promoting agriculture and local commerce, empowering youths and women, and preserving peace across communities in the local government area.
He urged Nigerians, particularly the people of Obudu, to remain patriotic, peaceful, and united, stressing that sustained national development requires the collective efforts and support of citizens at all levels.
He called for greater emphasis on constructive dialogue, civic responsibility, and patriotic solidarity, noting that the dividends of democracy must continue to reach households, villages, and wards across Obudu.
The Chairman reaffirmed his appreciation to traditional leaders, security agencies, civil servants, youth organisations, religious leaders, and business communities for their contributions to peace and development in Obudu.
He wished President Tinubu, Governor Otu, Nigerians, and the good people of Obudu Local Government Area a happy 66th Independence Anniversary, expressing optimism for a more peaceful, united, and prosperous Nigeria.
“As we hoist the green-white-green flag today, let us reignite our faith in Nigeria and redouble our dedication to the advancement of our homeland. Let us prioritize constructive dialogue over discord, civic productivity over complacency, and patriotic solidarity over fragmentation.”
He prayed for continued peace and prosperity in Obudu Local Government Area, Cross River State, and Nigeria.
