Cross River Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, Saturday, paid a condolence visit to the Hausa community in Ogoja to express his sympathies following the passing of their leader, Alhaji Salisu M. Hassan, who died recently.
At the family residence in Ogoja, Odey conveyed his deep sorrow upon hearing of the news of the Sarki’s death, emphasizing that his visit was a demonstration of solidarity with the community during their time of grief.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the family and the entire Hausa community in Ogoja, recognizing the significant role the late Sarki played in the development of Ogoja and Cross River State.
The Deputy Governor praised the late monarch as a unifying force who lived an exemplary life, describing him as a compassionate, responsible leader who always sought to protect and serve his people.
Odey encouraged the family and the Hausa community to find comfort in the Sarki’s legacy and continue to uphold the values and principles for which he was widely respected.
In their various responses, Alhaji Baba Aliyu, the Secretary of the Hausa Community in Ogoja and the son of the late Sarki, CSP Hassan Lawal Rabiu, expressed gratitude to the Deputy Governor for his visit.
They noted that his presence, along with other top government officials, demonstrated not only his empathy but also an expression of his love for the Hausa community.
Odey was accompanied on the visit by the House of Assembly member representing Boki I in the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Hilary Bisong, the Area Commander of the Nigeria Police, Ogoja Command, among other dignitaries.
