A brother to the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Mr. John Odey, has donated a solar-powered borehole to the Nigerian Police, Ogoja Divisional Headquarters, as part of efforts to support the welfare and operational efficiency of security personnel in the area.
Mr. Odey disclosed this in a post shared on his Facebook page on Tuesday, where he also showcased the ongoing installation of the water facility. According to him, the gesture is a personal contribution aimed at giving back to the police institution, which he holds in high regard.
Reflecting on his motivation, he noted that his late father served as a police officer, having received training in Congo and what was then known as Fernando Po. This personal connection, he said, inspired his decision to support the force.
“As the son of a police officer, I have decided to contribute in my own little way by giving back through the donation of a solar-powered borehole to the Nigerian Police, Ogoja Division,” he wrote.
He emphasized the importance of strengthening the relationship between the police and the public, reiterating the popular slogan, “The police are your friends.”
The solar-powered borehole is expected to provide a reliable source of clean water for officers and visitors at the division, addressing a critical need and improving working conditions within the facility.
Mr. Odey concluded his message with prayers for the continued success of the Nigerian Police Force, expressing hope that such gestures would encourage greater community support for security agencies.
