Engr. Emmanuel Nkpeh Attends Funeral Mass for Late Elder Mathias Egbung

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Power, Engr. Emmanuel Eneji Nkpeh, on Wednesday joined the Cross River State Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Oturepresented by his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Dr. Peter Agbe Odey, at the Funeral Mass for the late Elder Mathias Odama Egbung (KSJI), father of the Acting Chairman of Bekwarra Local Government Area, Hon. Egbung Odama Egbung.

The solemn ceremony, which took place at Christ the King Catholic Church, Anyikang, Bekwarra LGA, on Wednesday, was attended by dignitaries, family members, political associates, and friends who gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of the departed patriarch.

Speaking on behalf of the Governor, the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dr. Peter Odey, conveyed the condolences of the state government to the bereaved family, describing the late Elder Egbung as a man of deep faith, discipline, and integrity whose contributions to his family, church, and community remain indelible.

 

He encouraged the family to take solace in the worthy legacy their father left behind, noting that his exemplary life of service and commitment to God and humanity would continue to inspire others.

Similarly, Engr. Nkpeh, while speaking with the press on the sidelines of the funeral, described the deceased as “a father who was an epitome of humanity, a paragon of generosity, a disciplinarian, a good conversationalist, and above all, a quintessential leader.”

“Even in his demise, we are consoled by his rich legacies which shall remain evergreen in our hearts,” he added.

Concluding, Engr. Nkpeh prayed to God Almighty, in His infinite mercy, to grant the Egbung family and the entire Bekwarra people the fortitude to bear what he described as a colossal loss.

The event, which featured prayers, tributes, and reflections on a life well spent in faith, service, and humanity, was graced by several dignitaries, including the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, and members of the Assembly; Hon. Peter Akpanke, Member representing Obanliku/Bekwarra/Obudu Federal Constituency; Chief Emmanuel Ironbar, Chief of Staff to the Governor; State APC Chairman, Barr. Alphonsus Ogar Eba; members of the State Executive Council; council chairmen; and other top government officials.

The late Elder Mathias Odama Egbung was later laid to rest at his family compound in Anyikang village – Bekwarra LGA, surrounded by relatives and well-wishers.
