There was visible excitement in Mkpani, Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State, as heavy-duty bulldozers moved in to commence construction of a 2-kilometre ring road linking the Aduma, Afaben, and Ajere communities.

The project was officially launched by Senator Eteng Williams, representing the Cross River Central Senatorial District, in a strategic move aimed at strengthening rural infrastructure and improving the quality of life for residents.

The presence of construction equipment has been met with widespread enthusiasm from constituents as the road is expected to significantly ease transportation, facilitate easier market access for farmers, and accelerate urban development within the area.

The new ring road complements the ongoing Mkpani–Agoi Road project being executed by the Cross River State Government and is projected to serve as a catalyst for economic growth. By easing transportation challenges, the road will improve access to markets, boost agricultural productivity, and providing infrastructure supports sustainable local livelihoods.

The project has attracted commendation from traditional rulers, community leaders, and political stakeholders, who described it as a demonstration of transformative leadership that prioritizes the needs of the people.

The construction of rural roads, according to observers, fulfills one of Senator Eteng Williams’ key campaign promises to constituents across the senatorial district.

Other road infrastructure projects facilitated by the Senator include the grading of access roads in Iyamoyong, Okumurutet, and Iyamitet in Obubra Local Government Area; grading of Agba 1 and Agba 2 rural roads in Boki Local Government Area; grading of Okundi, Irruan, and Wula roads also in Boki; as well as the grading of the Abia–Bakassi Road in Etung Local Government Area.

Speaking on the project, Senator Eteng Williams assured constituents of sustained development efforts, stating: “This is just the beginning; more projects are on the horizon to transform our communities.”
