The Chairman of Obudu Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Peter Akonfe Undiandeye, KSM, has commended the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, for his intervention in restoring peace and unity within the political landscape of Obudu State Constituency.
Speaking in a statement issued on Friday, Dr. Undiandeye described Governor Otu’s role in the reconciliation process as timely and strategic, noting that the Governor’s commitment to dialogue and peaceful resolution of differences helped calm tensions that had earlier trailed the emergence of a consensus candidate for the constituency.

According to the council chairman, Governor Otu’s leadership and consistent appeal for harmony among political stakeholders created the enabling atmosphere that led to the reaffirmation of Hon. Sylvester Agabi as the consensus candidate for Obudu State Constituency.
He described the outcome as a victory for democracy, unity, and party cohesion, stressing that the decision reflected the collective will of stakeholders who chose peace and stability over division and conflict.
Dr. Undiandeye also expressed appreciation to party leaders, elders, youths, and political stakeholders across Obudu for what he termed their maturity, patience, and commitment to the peace process.

He noted that the collective resolve of stakeholders to place the interest of the constituency above personal ambitions greatly contributed to the successful consensus arrangement.
The chairman further stated that the peaceful resolution of the issues surrounding the candidature demonstrates Governor Otu’s statesmanship and unwavering commitment to sustaining political stability within the state.
He added that such leadership continues to inspire confidence at the grassroots and strengthen unity within the ruling party.
Dr. Undiandeye urged supporters and party faithful in Obudu to remain united and rally behind the consensus arrangement in order to ensure electoral success and continued development in the constituency.
