The Cross River State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, has commended the Team Mma-Adiaha Solidarity Movement for its sustained support, grassroots mobilization, and commitment to women empowerment across the state.
Odey gave the commendation on Monday when he received the leadership of the group’s Northern Senatorial District Chapter at the Deputy Governor’s Conference Office, Government House, Calabar.
Speaking during the meeting, the Deputy Governor appreciated the group for its continued support and commitment to grassroots mobilization and unity within the Northern Senatorial District and the state at large.
Lauding the group’s influence and visibility, particularly during the 2023 general elections, Odey said, “Nobody in Cross River State right now can quantify the strength of Team Mma-Adiaha. Even during the 2023 electioneering period, their voice was among the loudest across the state.”
He assured the group of his continued support towards the realization of its programmes and activities, noting that its initiatives would significantly benefit the state, especially the Northern Senatorial District.
Odey also reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and sustainable development, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with grassroots-based organizations.
Earlier in her remarks, the leader of the delegation and Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Mrs. Agnes Atsu, expressed appreciation to the Deputy Governor for his unwavering support for the activities of the Team Mma-Adiaha Solidarity Movement.
She recalled that the sociopolitical group played a pivotal role during the 2023 elections by galvanizing support for candidates of the party, including President Bola Tinubu, Governor Bassey Otu, as well as National and State Assembly candidates.
Atsu reaffirmed the group’s continued support ahead of the 2027 elections, stressing that this would be driven by intensified grassroots mobilization across the Northern Senatorial District. She noted that the group is engaging traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other stakeholders to encourage active participation in the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
She further highlighted some of the group’s key programmes, including entrepreneurship and skills acquisition initiatives aimed at empowering women and youths in the senatorial district, as well as a planned dinner event to honour notable Cross Riverians who have supported the organization over the years, noting that the Deputy Governor, Governor, and the First Lady are among those to be recognized at the event.
