The wife of Obudu Local Government Area Chairman, Mrs. Regina Undiandeye, on Saturday, lauded the First Lady of Cross River State, Her Excellency Bishop Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, for her steadfast dedication to women’s empowerment and community development. Mrs. Undiandeye commended the First Lady’s impactful initiatives, which have significantly improved the lives of women across the state.
In a distinctive celebration of International Women’s Day, Mrs. Undiandeye organized a special event in Obudu, bringing together women from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds to honor their achievements and strategize on further empowerment.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Undiandeye highlighted that the initiative aligns with the 2025 International Women’s Day global theme, “Accelerate Action,” which underscores the urgency of advancing gender equality and women’s rights. The gathering not only celebrated women’s accomplishments but also provided a platform to address existing challenges and outline a path toward a more inclusive future.
Mrs. Undiandeye called on governments at all levels, stakeholders, and women’s rights advocates to promote greater participation of women in all sectors, ensuring their voices are heard and valued in every community.
In a goodwill message, the Chairman of Obudu Local Government, Hon. (Amb.) Peter Undiandeye Akonfe, KSM, praised the resilience, strength, and dedication of women in building a prosperous and progressive society. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to implementing financial and economic policies that empower women, ensuring they have access to resources, funding, and opportunities for business and professional growth.
The highlight of the celebration was the distribution of food and non-food items, including cash, to women, widows, and vulnerable and elderly women by the First Lady of Cross River State, who was represented by Mrs Regina Undiandeye, wife of the Chairman.
