Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Mr Darlington Bassey Eyo, has described as “Well-deserved” the national award by Daily Independent Newspaper, a nationally acclaimed tabloid, presented to the Governor of Cross River state, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu.
In a message of congratulation made available to newsmen, Mr Darlington Eyo extolled the Governor’s giant strides in the economic transformation which has placed the state on the national radar for all to see.
“Your Excellency, let me begin by congratulating you, on this well-deserved Award.
As a leader who believe in the economic development of the state and the transformation witnessed through the people first mantra, Cross River state has regained its pride of place as role model in terms of result oriented leadership.
“Cross River state, as a tourism epicenter, became comatose in recent past, but the sector has been revived as statistics shows that influx of individuals to the state for business and leisure, has witnessed increased since your assumption of office. Unemployment was on a geometric increase with little job opportunities. But your approval for the employment of young men and women into the Unified Local Government Service, is another giant achievement.
This is in addition to the road infrastructural development, improved livelihood and in job creation.
“The caption of the award “Governor Of The Year On Economic Transformation” aptly confirms your economic blueprint which has now become a national template, prompting this recognition, ” Mr Darlington added.
Governor Bassey Otu recently received the
2024 “Most MSME-Friendly Governor” and the Michael Okpara Premier Leadership Prize.
With these numerous honours, Otu has established himself as one of Nigeria’s most visionary and pragmatic leaders, with Cross River emerging as a national benchmark for progress.
