As part of his administrations commitment to delivering quality infrastructure that will improve connectivity and accelerate socio-economic development across the state, Governor Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, represented by his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, on Saturday inspected ongoing road infrastructure projects in Ogoja Local Government Area.

The inspection tour took the Deputy Governor to the remodeled Abakpa Bridge, a critical component of the ongoing Ndok-Abakpa-Igoli-Monaya Road Rehabilitation Project. He also inspected ongoing construction work along Stadium Road and assessed the quality and pace of work on the 10km Ndok Junction-Mbube Road.

Speaking to newsmen during the inspection, Rt. Hon. Odey expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded on the projects and commended the contracting firm, K-TON Building Waves Engineering Nigeria Limited, for maintaining high construction standards. He reiterated that the Otu administration remains committed to ensuring that all ongoing projects are completed according to specifications and within stipulated timelines to guarantee lasting value for the people of Cross River State.

Odey noted that the administration places premium importance on regular project monitoring to ensure accountability, quality assurance, and the prudent utilization of public resources. He added that investments in road infrastructure remain central to the People First agenda, as they will improve transportation, stimulate economic activities, and enhance the quality of life of citizens.

He further urged contractors handling government projects to sustain the high standards of workmanship while ensuring strict compliance with contractual obligations and project delivery schedules. He also called on motorists to obey traffic regulations, particularly speed limits, to reduce the incidence of road accidents.

In his remarks, the Senior Special Adviser on the Think Cross River Project, Papa Dorncklaimz Enamhe, commended Governor Otu for the remarkable pace of infrastructure development across the state, particularly in the Northern Senatorial District. He also lauded the management of K-TON Building Waves Engineering Nigeria Limited for executing the projects in line with global best practices, describing the quality of work as a reflection of the administration’s commitment to excellence.

Also speaking, the Chief Executive Officer of K-TON Building Waves Engineering Nigeria Limited, Engr. Oladayo Kolawole, appreciated the state government for its confidence in the company and reaffirmed its commitment to delivering projects that meet the highest engineering standards. He assured the Deputy Governor that the firm would continue to maintain quality, adhere strictly to project specifications, and complete the work within the agreed timeframe. He further stated that the road has a minimum design lifespan of 25 years under proper maintenance.

Also in an interview at Ndok junction, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Infrastructure, Chief Matthias Ake, commended the Chief Executive Officer of K-TON Building Waves Engineering Nigeria Limited for the quality of work executed on the roads inspected so far, noting that the projects meet the required specifications, feature improved designs, and incorporate proper drainage systems.

The Deputy Governor was accompanied on the inspection by the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Pius Ankpo, Commissioner for Information, Dr. Erasmus Ekpang, and other senior government officials.
