The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bekwarra Local Government Area Chapter, Comrade Odama Thomas Odama, has commended the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, for approving the construction of the 10-kilometre Ugboro–Ukpah–Afrike Road and for the official flag-off of the project by the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey.
Speaking shortly after the groundbreaking ceremony on Saturday, Comrade. Odama described the project as a landmark intervention that reflects Governor Otu’s unwavering commitment to rural development and the delivery of his People First agenda. He noted that the road would not only improve connectivity among rural communities but also facilitate the movement of agricultural produce, stimulate economic activities, and improve the socio-economic wellbeing of the people of Bekwarra.
He praised Governor Otu for prioritising critical infrastructure in the area, describing the project as another testament to the administration’s resolve to fulfil its campaign promises and extend meaningful development to every part of the state.
Comrade Odama also applauded the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, for representing the Governor at the ceremony and formally flagging off the project. According to him, the Deputy Governor’s presence underscored the administration’s commitment to ensuring the timely execution of projects that directly impact the lives of the people.
He urged traditional rulers, community leaders, youths, and other stakeholders to give the contractor the necessary support and cooperation to ensure the successful and timely completion of the road project, stressing that the development would bring lasting economic and social benefits to the benefiting communities.

Reaffirming the commitment of the APC in Bekwarra to the Otu administration, Mr. Odama said the party would continue to mobilise grassroots support for the Governor and his developmental programmes. He expressed confidence that the administration’s achievements would further strengthen public trust and consolidate the APC’s popularity across the state.
The APC Chairman also pledged the unwavering support of the people of Bekwarra for Governor Otu and the All Progressives Congress, assuring that the local government would deliver overwhelming victories for the party in the 2027 general elections.
Comrade Odama further called for greater synergy among all stakeholders, particularly elected and appointed political office holders, urging them to work together in the interest of the people. He stressed that sustained collaboration, unity of purpose, and collective leadership are essential to attracting more dividends of democracy to Bekwarra and ensuring that the local government continues to benefit from the developmental strides of the Governor Otu-led administration.
