Hon. Dr. Alorye Adigeb-Abang has sustained her grassroots education intervention through the latest edition of the Back-to-School Programme of the Hon. Mrs. Alorye Adigeb-Abang Foundation.
The programme provided educational materials and other support to pupils in selected schools across Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State, covering schools in Obudu Constituencies I and II.
Beneficiary schools included St. Theresa Primary School, Ipong; Holy Trinity Primary School, Ukwel-Obudu; St. Coleman Primary School, Utugwang; Community Primary School, Kekung Ukpe; and Community Primary School, Alege.
As part of the intervention, Dr. Adigeb-Abang awarded scholarships to five pupils, committing to support their education from primary school through post-primary education. The scholarship package includes educational materials and financial assistance to ease the burden on the beneficiaries and their families.
The foundation said the initiative is aimed at helping pupils return to school adequately prepared, while supporting families with some of the financial demands associated with a new academic session.
Dr. Adigeb-Abang, who serves as Commissioner IV in the Cross River State Civil Service, said through the foundation, she remains committed to supporting children at the grassroots and promoting access to education.
She expressed appreciation to the Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Otu, and his dear wife, Bishop Eyoanwan Otu, for giving her the opportunity to serve the people and contribute to the development of the state. She said the opportunity to serve has further strengthened her commitment to making a positive impact, particularly in the lives of children and families at the grassroots.
The foundation emphasised that the programme is a community-focused initiative separate from her official responsibilities, with the broader objective of encouraging children to remain in school and pursue their educational aspirations.
