The Executive Chairman of Abi Local Government Area, Hon. Egbala Bassey, on Saturday, 10th May 2025, led the Abi delegation to an endorsement rally held at the Ikom Township Stadium in a powerful show of support for the re-election of His Excellency, Apostle Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, and his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, Ph.D, for the 2027 Cross River State Governorship Elections.

Organized jointly by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Central Progressives Initiatives (CPI), the rally served as a formal declaration of intent by party stakeholders and grassroots representatives to consolidate on the achievements of the current administration.

In his address, Hon. Egbala Bassey highlighted the transformative leadership, infrastructural strides, and inclusive governance style of Governor Otu and his Deputy as the driving force behind the unanimous endorsement. He affirmed that the progress recorded under their administration warrants continuity.

Dignitaries from Abi who graced the event included: Rt. Hon. Chief Alex Egbona, Ph.D (Member, House of Reps, Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency), Rt. Hon. Davies Ettah (Member, CRS House of Assembly), Hon. Isaac Obo (Commissioner IV, CRS Forestry Commission), Engr. Dr. Jerome Egbe (SA, Public Utility), Hon. Joseph Ukata (Vice Chairman, Abi LGA), Dr. Jeremiah Ani (Council Secretary), Hon. Pst. Joshua Akali Igboke (Chapter Chairman), Hon. Victor Ewa (Leader, Legislative Council), Eld. Bolaji Anani (Elder Statesman), alongside councilors, supervisors, political appointees, chapter executives, and enthusiastic supporters across all wards.

The overwhelming turnout and unity of purpose at the event reflect the deep-rooted confidence in the leadership of Governor Otu and Deputy Odey, reinforcing the APC’s momentum ahead of 2027.
