The Abong Abang Foundation on Wednesday continued its Back-to-School education outreach in Obubra Local Government Area, distributing learning materials to Government Technical College, Obubra, Community Secondary School, Adun, and Primary School, Apiapum.

The initiative, aimed at supporting public education and promoting a culture of learning, drew commendations from teachers, students, and community stakeholders.

In a show of appreciation, Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Obubra Chapter, Comrade Amilton Obora, praised Founder of the Foundation, Engr. George Ndifom Abang, Ph.D., for his commitment to education. He urged other public-spirited individuals to emulate the Foundation’s humanitarian efforts in uplifting young learners.

Also speaking, the Vice Principal of Government Technical College, Obubra, lauded the Foundation for giving back to society, especially to its founder’s alma mater. He prayed for continued grace and wisdom for the Foundation to extend its reach beyond Obubra.

In the same vein, the Senior Prefect of Government Technical College, Obubra, Master Eyam Goodluck, expressed gratitude to Engr. Abang and members of the Foundation for the donation, assuring that the materials would be put to proper use for the benefit of students and the larger society, particularly Obubra Local Government Area.

Earlier, the Program Coordinator and leader of the Foundation’s delegation to the area, Mr. Elvis Okorn, said the outreach was part of efforts to encourage reading and learning among students. He added that beyond the beneficiaries in primary and secondary schools, the Foundation has also supported students in tertiary institutions through various educational programmes like scholarship.

Mr. Okorn further disclosed that the Foundation plans to expand its intervention to other sectors such as agriculture and health, in line with its vision of promoting community development and human capital growth across Cross River State.

Founded by Engr. George Ndifom Abang, Ph.D., the Abong Abang Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing education, empowering youth, and improving livelihoods through targeted humanitarian programmes. Its Back-to-School initiative, launched earlier this year, has reached several communities across Obubra and Etung Local Government Areas, as well as other parts of the state.
