The Cross River State Diaspora Commission (CRIDCOM) is set to receive 7 Cross Riverians who were among the 231 Nigerian youths trafficked to Ghana, and recently rescued through the efforts of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM).
CRIDCOM extends its heartfelt gratitude to NIDCOM for facilitating the transportation of these youths back to Nigeria.
The Commission wishes to express profound appreciation to Wema Bank of Nigeria and the Office of the First Lady, HE Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for their invaluable support in this initiative.
This successful intervention is the result of months of engagement initiated by the Federal Government through the Nigerian High Commission in Ghana, NIDCOM, and Chief Callistus Elozieuwa, BOT Chairman of Rescue Live Foundation International/NIDO Ghana. Their collaborative efforts culminated in an agreement with Ghanaian authorities for the release of the victims.
Sadly, most of these youths were exploited for cybercrime and subjected to confinement and abuse before their rescue. We commend the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) in Ghana for their effective handling of the case and the care provided to the Nigerian citizens while in their custody.
CRIDCOM is committed to supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration of these victims into society and ensuring they receive the necessary care and support to rebuild their lives.
