The Chairman/CEO of Cross River State Forestry Commission, Rt. Hon. Dr. George O’ben-Etchi, on Thursday, hosted Patriot (Dr) Dominic Okweche, the Cross River State Commandant of Peace Corps of Nigeria, and his team in Calabar.
During his opening remarks, the Commandant expressed that the purpose of their visit to the Chairman/CEO of the Forestry Commission was to extend congratulations on his well-deserved appointment by the ‘People First’ Governor, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu. He lauded the Chairman for revitalizing the Commission within a few months in office, rescuing it from near dormancy.
The Commandant also commended the Chairman for actively supporting various initiatives for the organization, describing this commitment as “Rare.”
Continuing, he affirmed the Corps’ preparedness to collaborate and operate efficiently in areas identified as suitable by the Commission.
In response, the Head of the Forestry Commission, Rt. Hon. Dr. George O’ben-Etchi, commended the Commandant and his team for their diligence and proactive approach in fulfilling the Corps’ mandate in the State.
O’ben-Etchi, praising the Commandant and the Corps for their contribution during the recent general election in Cross River State, gave assurance to the Peace Corps that he would make concerted efforts to engage them actively in the commission’s activities.
The pinnacle of the visit was marked by the organization’s leader presenting a souvenir to the Commission Chairman.
