The Forum of Local Government Councillors in Cross River State has become aware of misleading media reports and social media posts falsely claiming that councillors threatened to shut down Calabar if official vehicles were not provided.
We categorically state that these allegations are completely untrue, unfounded, and do not represent the position of councillors across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.
The Forum has never issued any threat or ultimatum regarding the provision of vehicles. We acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of the Cross River State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Bassey Edet Otu, in addressing the needs of public officeholders, including councillors, to ensure effective grassroots governance.
The Forum remains committed to the peace, stability, and progress of Cross River State and strongly disassociates itself from any statements or publications that seek to disrupt public order.
We urge the public to disregard these false reports and rest assured that councillors remain dedicated to serving their communities in collaboration with the state government.
We also call on media practitioners to uphold ethical journalism standards by verifying information before dissemination

Hon. Samuel Eneji
Leader, Obudu Legislative Council /
