The Cross River State Government is inviting all Cross Riverians and residents of the state to pay their respects to the late Senator Dr. Joseph Wayas GCON, Nigeria’s second republic Senate President – our fallen hero, as his body arrives Calabar, the State capital for onward movement to his country home in Obanliku for final funeral rites.
Details of the events in the State are as follows:
• Arrival of Dr. Wayas’ Body: The body of the late Dr. Wayas will arrives at Margaret Ekpo International Airport at 2 pm, 28 November, 2024.
• Night of Songs and Tributes: A night of songs and tributes will be held at the U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar, starting at 6 pm to 8PM: 28 November, 2024.
• Fri. Nov. 29th @ Obanliku his home town. Vigil Night @ his compound, Sankwala.
Time: 7pm.
Sat. Nov. 30th.
Internment and final burial@ his compound, Sankwala, Obanliku, CRS.
Time: 10am.
Distinguished Senator Dr Joseph Wayas (GCON) who was aged 80 is survived by his wife, sons, daughters, grandchildren and other family members.
The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu, implores all to come out en masse to pay the last respect to our dear sage.
