In recognition of their outstanding contributions to community development, philanthropy, and leadership, the Ejagham Nation has conferred prestigious chieftaincy titles on Elder Dr. Julius Egbai and his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Julius Egbai, who serves as a Commissioner at the Cross River State Planning Commission.
The couple were honoured with the revered titles of Ntufam and Ntukae of the Ejagham Nation at a colourful ceremony held at the Ndidem’s Palace Ground, Asim Ikang Street, Big Qua Town, Calabar.
Presenting the titles, the Ndidem of the Quas, Paramount Ruler and Grand Patriarch of the Ejagham Nation, His Royal Majesty Dr. Eta Bassey Eteta III, commended the Egbaís for their unwavering commitment to the growth and unity of the Ejagham people. He described them as shining examples of integrity and service whose efforts have continued to uplift lives through education, healthcare, and social welfare initiatives.
Speaking further, he intimated that the chieftaincy titles of Ntufam and Ntukae are among the most revered honors in the Ejagham tradition, symbolizing wisdom, leadership, and dedicated service to the community.
In their remarks, Elder Dr. and Dr. (Mrs.) Egbai expressed deep appreciation to the Ejagham Traditional Council for the honour and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace, unity, and sustainable development across the Ejagham Nation.
The highpoint of the ceremony was the presentation of certificate, staff, and royal insignia to the awardees.
The event attracted traditional rulers, community leaders, top government officials, friends, and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate the couple’s achievements and dedication to humanity, alongside other distinguished Nigerians from various walks of life who were also honoured.
