The Youth Arise Movement (YAM) has commended the Executive Chairman of Obudu Local Government Area, Hon. (Amb) Peter Akonfe Undiandeye, KSM, for his prompt, resolute response and decisive stance against the looting of public infrastructure.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Joseph Imona, the group praised Hon. Undiandeye for acting swiftly in collaboration with security agencies, which led to the recovery of electricity transformers recently stolen along the Obudu-Vandeikya Road.
Comrade Imona described the Chairman’s prompt response as a clear demonstration of his commitment to transparency, accountability, and protection of public property.
“Hon. Peter Undiandeye has shown exceptional leadership by moving quickly to address the theft of public assets. His partnership with security operatives in recovering the stolen transformers is commendable and should serve as a model for other council chairmen across the state and country at large,” Imona said.
The group emphasized that the looting of public assets not only hampers development but also deepens the suffering of ordinary citizens, especially in rural communities where infrastructure is already limited.
“Transformers are critical to powering homes, schools, and businesses. The theft of such vital infrastructure affects the daily lives of people. That is why we applaud the Obudu Council Chairman for rising to the occasion,” Imona added.
YAM further called on the people of Obudu and Cross River State at large to support the local government’s efforts in safeguarding public property by remaining vigilant and reporting suspicious activities.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to supporting leaders who uphold the values of good governance, justice, and service to the people, stating that Hon. Undiandeye’s action reflects a leadership style rooted in integrity and accountability.
YAM called on residents of Obudu and Cross River State to collaborate with authorities in safeguarding community assets, urging vigilance and prompt reporting of suspicious activities. The organization also encouraged other local government leaders nationwide to adopt Undiandeye’s hands-on approach, stressing that such accountability is critical to fostering development.
In closing, YAM appealed to stakeholders, including government officials and community leaders, to support ongoing investigations into the theft and ensure perpetrators face justice. The group reiterated its commitment to endorsing leaders who prioritize integrity, public service, and the protection of communal interests.
“Hon. Undiandeye’s actions remind us that effective leadership requires courage and immediacy. We urge others to follow this example,” Imona concluded.
