The Councillor representing Utugwang North Ward who doubles as Leader of Councillors Forum in Cross River State, Hon. Eneji Sam, has congratulated Governor Bassey Otu on receiving the prestigious “Governor of the Year (Economic Transformation)” award at the Independent Awards 2025.
The award ceremony took place on Saturday at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
In a congratulatory message, Hon. Eneji Sam described the award as a well-deserved recognition of Governor Otu’s outstanding leadership and commitment to economic growth and transformation in Cross River State. He commended the governor for his bold initiatives in revitalizing key sectors such as agriculture, tourism, and industrialization, which have significantly improved the state’s economic.
“Governor Otu has demonstrated visionary leadership in driving economic transformation in Cross River State. His policies and reforms have created jobs, boosted local industries, and attracted investments. This award is a testament to his dedication to the economic prosperity of our state,” Hon. Eneji Sam stated.
He further praised the governor’s efforts in empowering small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs), improving infrastructure, and promoting sustainable development, which have positioned Cross River as a model for economic progress in Nigeria.
Governor Bassey Otu has implemented several policies aimed at economic transformation, including, investment in mechanized farming and agro-processing industries to boost food production and exports, revamping the state’s tourism sector, including the popular Calabar Carnival, to attract local and international visitors and ongoing construction of roads, bridges, and industrial hubs to enhance trade and economic activities.
His administration’s focus on economic diversification and sustainable development has earned national recognition, culminating in the prestigious Independent Awards 2025 honor.
Hon. Eneji Sam urged the people of Cross River to continue supporting Governor Otu’s administration, emphasizing that the governor’s vision for economic transformation would bring lasting prosperity to the state.
