Chairman/CEO of Cross River State Forestry Commission, Adm. Rt. Hon (Dr) George O’Ben-Etchi, extends congratulations to Cross River State Governor, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, and Deputy Rt. Hon. Peter Odey on the Supreme Court’s validation of their 2023 election.

On Friday, the Supreme Court affirmed the decisions of the Election Petition Tribunal and the Appeal Court, supporting the victories of Governor Senator Prince Bassey Otu and Deputy Rt. Hon. Peter Odey of the People First party.

In response to yesterday’s verdict from the Apex Court, O’Ben-Etchi, a former Commissioner of Solid Mineral and Chairman of Commissioners Forum, expressed that the court’s decision to uphold the election of Otu and Odey marks the conclusion of a thorough process that undeniably enhances democracy in the state and the nation as a whole.

“With the legal contest concluded and Otu’s victory firmly affirmed, it is evident that the All Progressives Congress enjoyed the support of Cross Riverians and her residents, as demonstrated in the 2023 Governorship and House of Assembly elections” O’Ben-Etchi stated.

Commending the Governor for his unwavering resolve throughout the case, the Forestry boss urged Cross Riverians, regardless of party affiliations, to unite in support of the Governor and his deputy, fostering an environment conducive to their success.

He extended well-wishes to Governor Otu for a successful leadership tenure in Cross River, offering prayers for divine wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to guide him in effectively implementing his People First Agenda for the benefit of the state’s citizens.
