Peter Undiandeye Akonfe, the APC Chairmanship Candidate, and his running mate Rhoda Ashong launched a comprehensive ward-to-ward campaign in Obudu. They kicked off in Utugwang South Ward on October 28, 2024, receiving a warm welcome from traditional rulers, party stalwarts, women, and youths.
Akonfe promised to:
– Conduct baseline surveys and needs assessments
– Ensure equitable project distribution across 10 wards
– Support farmers, empower women, and upgrade infrastructure
At Utugwang Central, leaders assured Akonfe of unwavering support, pledging not a single vote would be lost to opposition parties. Akonfe and Ashong vowed to transform Utugwang Central into an urban hub with modernized Primary Healthcare and Education services and a revamped Utugwang Market.
In Utugwang North, Akonfe pledged to support farmers with training and inputs for food security and wealth creation. Ashong emphasized women’s empowerment, describing them as the family’s backbone.
At Alege/Ubang Ward, the reception was particularly warm, with leaders thanking Akonfe and the APC for choosing their daughter, Rhoda Ashong, as running mate. They promised reciprocal support, ensuring maximum victory on November 2nd. “We’re grateful for the APC’s trust in our daughter,” said a leader. “We’ll reciprocate with overwhelming votes.”
In Angiaba Begiaka, Akonfe’s hometown, the welcome was jubilant. Leaders praised his familiarity with the ward’s unique challenges, captured in his blueprint. “As our son, we owe him total victory,” a leader declared. The remaining PDP structure in the ward collapsed into the APC, with defectors pledging to support their “brother” Akonfe.
The campaign team also visited Ukpe, Begiading, and other wards, receiving similar pledges of support. Akonfe committed to:
– Increased commercial agriculture
– Improved public school education
– Enhanced Primary Healthcare Services
– Rural development
– Empowerment of women, youths, and men
Traditional rulers and community leaders lauded Akonfe’s generosity, humility, and wealth of experience. “With Akonfe as Chairman, we’re confident of quality service delivery,” said a Ukpe leader.
The final leg of the campaign will visit the remaining three wards Obudu on Wednesday October 30, 2024.
