As Christians around the world commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Executive Chairman of Obudu Local Government Council, Hon. (Amb) Peter Akonfe Undiandeye, KSM, has called on residents of Obudu and the wider Christian community to embrace the true essence of Easter—unity, love, and selfless sacrifice.
In a message released on Easter Sunday, Hon. Undiandeye reflected on the significance of the season, urging all citizens to draw inspiration from the sacrificial love of Christ and renew their commitment to peace and communal development.
“Easter is a powerful reminder of God’s love and the ultimate sacrifice made by Jesus Christ for the redemption of mankind,” the Chairman said. “It teaches us the values of compassion, forgiveness, and unity; qualities we must uphold in our daily lives and as a people working toward a common good of our dear local government.”
He further emphasized that in a time marked by social, dwindling economic, and numerous challenges, the people of Obudu must remain united and resilient, standing together to build a local government anchored on mutual respect and progress.
Hon. Undiandeye also used the opportunity to commend religious leaders, political stakeholders and churches for their continued role in promoting peace, spiritual growth, and moral values within the local government area.
He reassured residents of his administration’s unwavering dedication to delivering on developmental promises in line with the ‘People First’ mantra of the Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu and Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President, Bola Tinubu, while fostering an inclusive and peaceful environment for all.
“As we celebrate Easter, let us also extend a helping hand to the less privileged, reconcile with one another, and pray for the continued peace and prosperity of our land,” he added.
The Chairman concluded by wishing all Christians a joyful and spiritually fulfilling Easter celebration, urging them to celebrate responsibly and continue to uphold the values that strengthen the social fabric of Obudu and the state at large.
