The Executive Chairman of Obudu Local Government Area, Honorable (Amb) Peter Undiandeye, KSM, has extended heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, Governor of Cross River State, for clinching the “Governor of the Year 2024” (Economic Transformation) award by the Independent Newspaper.
In a statement released on Sunday, Hon. Undiandeye lauded Governor Otu’s visionary leadership and transformative policies, which he noted have significantly advanced the socio-economic development of Cross River State since his inauguration. The award, organized by one of Nigeria’s foremost media institutions, recognizes exemplary governance, innovation, and impact in public service.
Undiandeye described the recognition as “well-deserved,” emphasizing that Governor Otu’s commitment to inclusive growth, infrastructure revitalization, and human capital development aligns with the aspirations of Cross Riverians. “His Excellency’s dedication to uplifting our state through people-centered policies, such as the groundbreaking agricultural reforms, healthcare upgrades, and educational investments, has set a new standard for governance. This award reaffirms the trust and pride our people have in his administration,” the Chairman stated.
He further highlighted the Governor’s strides in fostering unity and collaboration across the state’s 18 local government areas, noting that initiatives like the “People First” agenda have prioritized grassroots empowerment and sustainable development. “From the ongoing urban renewal projects in Calabar to the strategic partnerships attracting investment to Obudu’s tourism sector, Governor Otu’s impact is both visible and transformative,” Undiandeye added.
The Independent Newspaper’s “Governor of the Year” award is widely regarded as a benchmark for excellence in leadership. Governor Otu’s selection reportedly stemmed from his administration’s strides in security enhancement, economic diversification, and environmental sustainability, including efforts to protect Cross River’s rainforests and promote eco-tourism.
Hon. Undiandeye, who also serves as a key advocate for rural development in the state, expressed optimism that the award would motivate the Governor to deepen his efforts toward realizing Cross River’s full potential. “We in Obudu are particularly grateful for His Excellency’s support for the Obudu Ranch Resort revitalization project, which promises to boost local employment and reposition our community as a global tourism destination,” he remarked.
