In a commendable effort to promote educational excellence and recognize outstanding young talents, the Chairman of Obudu Local Government Council has reached out to Miss Patrick Alouyongbishi Anthony, the winner of the 5th Edition of HE. Governor Prince Bassey Edet Otu’s Essay Competition on Local Content Development in Cross River State.

The Chairman, who was represented by his Chief Protocol Officer, Mr. Julius Akem, visited Miss Anthony’s family home in the company of Mr. Emmanuel Ufum, and Mr. Tony-Anslem Bekongwubel, both appointees of the council.

During the visit, Mr. Akem, who spoke on behalf of the Chairman, applauded the Governor for his unwavering commitment to educational development in the state. He noted that the sector has experienced remarkable progress under HE. Governor Prince Bassey Edet Otu’s administration, particularly within the last two years.

He went on to commend the initiative behind the essay competition, describing it as a strategic move to engage young minds in the state’s developmental discourse. He expressed delight that the winner of the prestigious competition hails from Obudu, stating that it is a moment of pride for the entire local government.

“The Chairman is proud of you, Miss Alouyongbishi. You have proven to be a worthy ambassador of Obudu,” Akem stated. “We encourage you to keep up the good work. In appreciation of your effort, the Chairman is offering financial support toward your educational needs and has promised continuous mentorship and routine checks to support your academic journey.”

In response, Miss Alouyongbishi expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Governor for providing a platform that allowed her to showcase her intellectual capacity. She also thanked Hon. Undiandeye for the visit, the words of encouragement, and the financial token, describing it as timely and impactful.

“I’m grateful for the Chairman’s visit and kind gesture. This support will go a long way in motivating not just me but other young people in Obudu to take education seriously and trust that hard work will be rewarded,” she said.

Mrs. Ashikem Uyilowhoma, mother to Alouyongbishi also expressed deep fondness to Hon. Undiandeye, praising his dedication to the people of Obudu. “I’ve seen your works and the love you show to the people. Today, my daughter has become a beneficiary of your kindness. May God continue to bless and guide you as you lead Obudu to greater heights,” she said.

This gesture by the Obudu Local Government Chairman reflects a growing recognition of youth empowerment and academic excellence as vital pillars in the development of Cross River State.
