Earlier this week, Executive Chairman, Obudu Local Government Council, Hon. Peter Akonfe Undiandeye KSM interfaced with the traditional rulers of Obudu local government area at the Council’s secretariat to chant the growth of Obudu. The meeting which had in attendance the Paramount Ruler of Obudu local government area, HRM Utsu Felix Ukwudari as well as clan heads across the LGA became necessary to discuss matters on security, investment, growth and revenue.
The Paramount Ruler appreciated the chairman for the call and suggested that such meetings be held from time to time to streamline the affairs of the LGA. He further called on fellow leaders to be watchful and report any security threats within their areas to the appropriate authorities and maintain peace at all times.
The chairman, Obudu LGC, Hon. Peter Akonfe Undiandeye KSM reiterated his commitment for a crime-free Obudu under his tenure as chairman. He further appreciated the traditional council for their active participation in facilitating peace between Obudu and Vandikya/Kwande local governments of Benue state calling for necessary arrangements to ensure the burial of the deceased. He also informed the leaders of the need for suitable sites for investment as investors are ready to do business in the local government.
Hon. Akonfe further frowned at traditional leaders who attempt to collect revenue on behalf of the local government designated authorities. He further explained that the council needs to thrive using it’s Internally generated revenue to bring about developmental projects for the people. The Royal Father, Utsu F.B Ukwudari affirmed that such practices are not to be condoned.
HRH Utsu Patrick Ishoja mentioned the issue of hard drugs taken by youths is one vice that needs critical attention adding that campaign against such crimes be staged.
The meeting ended with traditional blessings and prayers for the local government Chairman.
