The Executive Chairman of Obudu Local Government Council, Hon. (Amb) Peter Akonfe Undiandeye, KSM, has initiated the “Operation Zero Tolerance to Potholes” project in Obudu Urban Area.
This initiative aims to eliminate potholes and reconnect communities that have been cut off due to deteriorating road conditions with Obudu Urban.
Last week, Hon. Undiandeye paid an unscheduled visit to a construction site in Ubang, Nkiro village, to inspect the ongoing reconstruction of a collapsed culvert. Demonstrating his commitment to improving infrastructure, he has now launched a broader effort that includes grading, compacting streets, and repairing potholes.
In a statement issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Ikwen Atuaka, the Chairman emphasized the urgency of addressing road hazards, citing the numerous accidents caused by potholes. He noted that many lives have been lost in Obudu LGA as motorists swerve dangerously to avoid potholes or drive against traffic, increasing the risk of fatal crashes.
“My zero-tolerance policy on potholes and other road construction projects reflects our commitment to prioritizing the safety and well-being of Obudu residents,” Hon. Undiandeye stated.
“Bad roads and reckless driving have taken too many lives. To address this, we have constituted a traffic management committee, installed road signs for better navigation, and begun filling all identified potholes with concrete. Additionally, we are working to reconnect isolated communities affected by poor road conditions.”
Undiandeye urged residents to stay resolute and steadfast in their support for Governor Bassey Otu’s administration, emphasizing its commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy across the state.
