In a bold display of leadership and humanity, the Obudu Local Government Authority has successfully evacuated its indigenes from Tsar community in Benue State following the recent communal clash that claimed lives and properties. In a peaceful and well-coordinated effort, the LGA also ensured the safe return of Tsar indigenes who were in Obudu back to their community without harm or harassment.
The operation, which was carried out under tight security and mutual understanding, is a testament to the commitment of both communities to peace, dialogue, and reconciliation. Authorities from both local governments worked closely to de-escalate tensions and avoid further loss of lives. Traditional rulers, youth leaders, and security agencies all played key roles in facilitating the smooth and humane movement of individuals across the borders.
Speaking on the development, the Chairman of Obudu Local Government Council, Hon. (Amb) Peter Akonfe Undiandeye who was represented by his Special Adviser for Peace and Security, Mr. Emmanuel Ikem led the coordination efforts, expressed deep gratitude to the security agencies and the youth council from both areas involved and reassured residents of Obudu and Tsar that peace remains the only viable path forward. He noted that though lives were lost in the unfortunate incident, efforts are ongoing to ensure justice, accountability, and lasting peace.
This return marks a new beginning for the affected communities. The successful and peaceful exchange of indigenes is a beacon of hope, reminding all that peace is possible when people put humanity above hostility. Obudu LGA remains committed to working with neighboring communities, security agencies, and relevant authorities to prevent future occurrences and promote harmony across all borders.
