Strengthening Security Ties: Governor Otu Commends NNS Victory Commander’s Commitment to Security of the State

The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, has expressed appreciation for the dedication and commitment of Navy Commander Commodore RD Oderemi of the NNS Victory Ship during a courtesy visit to the Naval Commander’s office in Calabar. Representing the Governor, Barrister Ekpenyong Akiba, Special Adviser to the Governor on General Duties, conveyed Governor Otu’s admiration for the responsible conduct of the naval command in fulfilling their civic duties.

Mr. Akiba highlighted the positive collaboration between the state government and the Nigerian Navy, emphasizing the importance of effective communication and cooperation to ensure the safety of the state’s waterways.

He congratulated Commander Oderemi on his achievements thus far and assured continued support and collaboration from the government.

“The governor has asked me to congratulate and welcome you to Cross River State and to assure you of our continued collaboration in ensuring the safety of our people.
“We as a government are proud of your short stay achievements in office and we are here to encourage you to do more”, Akiba highlighted.


In response, Commander Rotimi D. Oderemi expressed gratitude for the Governor’s commitment to building strong ties between the government and security agencies.

He reaffirmed the NNS Victory Ship’s dedication to addressing issues that threaten the state’s businesses and noted their expanded scope to handle ground operations under the joint operations Taskforce code-named OPERATION AKPAKWU.
“You are highly appreciated for having us at heart.
Let me assure that the Nigerian Navy Ship victory will continue to consolidate with the government even as our predecessors had to ensure our waterways is safe.
“We will be more committed, our lines will be open and we will give the needed support within the confine of the law to ensure your business continues”

The Special Adviser on Public Utility, Mr. Jerome Egbe, extended condolences on behalf of the Governor to the Armed Forces for their loss in Delta State during a peacekeeping exercise.

Accompanying the Special Adviser on General Duties were Mr. Edem Darlington, Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Andrea Ekeng, Special Assistant on New Media to the Governor, and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Student’s Affairs.

The event also saw the exchange of gifts and signing of the visitor’s register, highlighting the mutual respect and collaboration between the government and the Nigerian Navy.
