A coalition of young people from various political parties in Cross River State has passed a vote of confidence on Governor Sen. Prince Bassey Otu, commending his leadership style and highlighting his infrastructural advances in the state.
The group, with membership from all political parties, met to assess the governor’s performance so far and agreed that given the condition the Governor found the state in 2023 and the requirement to restore key State owned structures that had been abandoned, a lot has changed. They in particularly commended the culture of work of the Governor, which has been mature, calm, calculated and respectful of all shades of opinion.
Comrade Coco-Bassey Esu, Director-General of the group, said that the multi party coalition of interests was necessary to now encourage Governor Otu to more vigorously expand and pursue his approach of building an all-inclusive government. He noted that more needs to be done to address the yearnings of persons of different persuasions. He appreciated the governor for setting out a clear basis for developing people friendly policies, programs, initiatives, and development across several sectors and in every senatorial districts.
“We need to commend what the Governor has done and urge him to do more now that we know what plans he has for the state” Esu said.
Other leaders of the group who included Mr. Maurice Eyo and Comrd Igwut Williams also lauded the governor for providing job opportunities and appointments to members of the group and said that it was time to do a half tenure overview and assessment of different components of government for optimization
Ruth Ekeng, speaking on behalf of beneficiaries of employment opportunities, thanked the governor for providing for many through job openings in government.
Mrs. Nkechi Ebri, praised the unity among the women of the and believed that the developmental strides of the Gov. Otu administration will lead to more women getting into places of enhancement.
Hon. Princess Christy Eso, Vice Chairman of Bakassi Local Government Council, and Chair of all Vice Chairmen’s forum, thanked the group for their foresight and urged them to carry their advocacy to other levels and pray that the governor is able to deliver on his mandate across the state. Hon Asuquo Ekpenyong, former leader of the Calabar South council appreciated the group for their hunger for unity and their belief in the government of Sen. Prince Bassey Otu. He said the group had the additional responsibility of uniting the youths of CRS and firmly promoting programs of the governor and ensuring that all peoples of the state enjoy the current leadership endeavors.
Overall, the group noted the last 22 months of Governor Otu’s administration has been focused on various sectors, including Waste Disposal, Road Construction, Security, urban Beautification, jobs and the promotion of the economic well being and growth of citizens of the state.
