In a memorable farewell, Mr. Undiandeye Peter Akonfe, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship Candidate for Obudu Local Government Area, joined the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Otu, ably represented by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, Senator representing Central Senatorial District at the Nigerian Senate, Senator Eteng Jones Williams, and the APC State Chairman, Alphonsus Eba, along with numerous mourners at the burial ceremony for the late Tanko Mathias Ashang, SAN.
The ceremony took place at the Mater Redemptoris Parish in Sankwalla, Obanliku LGA, on Saturday, October 26th, 2024.
Speaking to journalists at the compound of the deceased in Sankwalla, the APC candidate for the forthcoming November 2nd Chairmanship/Councillorship elections in the state expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Ashang.
Undiandeye described Ashang as a dedicated public servant whose contributions to the growth of Northern Cross River and the state were profound.
He extended his condolences to the Ashang family and the people of Obanliku, urging them to uphold the late Attorney-General’s principles and legacy, and to seek comfort in God to fill the void left by his passing.
Earlier, Undiandeye met with councillorship candidates from across Obudu’s wards, as well as members of the APC campaign council and chapter executive committee at the Obudu APC Secretariat.
The meeting seeks to refining campaign strategies for a strong push across all wards and polling units. During the meeting, he appealed to party members, supporters, and stakeholders to strive for victory, pledging to bring his experience to ensure effective governance for the area.
